About the team Stripe's Marketplaces product team sits inside Money Management Services (MMS) and owns the financial infrastructure that marketplace platforms use to move money between buyers, sellers, and themselves. Marketplaces are structurally different from direct merchants: money doesn't just flow from a buyer to a single seller—it splits, routes, holds, gets reserved, crosses currencies, and arrives in dozens of countries through a chain of platform decisions. Getting that right, at scale and reliably, is the problem this team owns. Connect platforms represent the majority of Stripe's pay-in volume, and the marketplace segment is our fastest-growing and most complex. The fund flow problem is not fully solved industry-wide; platforms still hit rough edges at scale around multi-currency, cross-border operations, and multi-processor reconciliation.
